Job description:

The TechOps Network team is responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of the network service/product. Team members may work to rollout new functionality and upgrades and support the ongoing operations.

Within this team, the Senior Specialist is a technical leader responsible for designing and implementing changes to the network, assuming leadership roles in troubleshooting and problem resolution, and providing guidance and documented knowledge (e.g., SOP’s, updated guidelines) to other team members.

The Senior Specialist also communicates with internal customer contacts, 3rd party vendors, and management to drive incident/problem resolution, gather requirements, and coordinate changes.

Example efforts/assignments are:

  • Design, implementation, and operation of
    • LAN and WiFi network upgrade
    • SD-WAN routing or QoS features
    • New connectivity between on-premise and cloud environments
    • A new remote site office network
    • New RADIUS or ACS authentication servers
    • A new VPN connection with a business partner
    • Network connectivity for IoT devices
    • Improved monitoring or automation capabilities
  • Leading problem resolution for
    • Chronic WiFi disconnects
    • Slow/degraded network-based application performance
    • Security vulnerabilities identified on network devices or appliances
  • Documenting
    • Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) for routine activities or troubleshooting approaches
    • Knowledge Articles for known errors, etc.
    • Standards / Guidelines (and looking for ways to automate adherence/compliance)

This position supports the North America geographic region, and typical working hours will be primarily aligned to North America from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm CDT. However, some changes/support may be required outside of those hours.


The Senior Specialist should have deep experience in one or more technical sub-domains (e.g., WiFi, LAN, SD-WAN) and broad experience across many areas of network technology and other infrastructure technologies (e.g., server OS, DHCP, Active Directory).

The Senior Specialist also needs strong written and verbal (speaking) communication skills.

Sample Experience:

  • 7+ years deep experience with one or more Cisco WiFi, LAN, or WAN technologies
  • 3+ years’ experience with all of Cisco WiFi, LAN, and SD-WAN technologies
  • 1+ years’ experience with Active Directory, DHCP, and various client and server OS’s
  • 1+ years with network load balancers, VPN’s, and cloud networking
  • 3+ years’ experience with multiple network tools and/or authentication servers
  • Prior experience as a senior technical resource in either design or operations
  • Experience solving problems using packet capture analysis
  • Experience with supporting manufacturing plant floor operations
  • Experience leading small teams
