Job description:

The TechOps Network team is responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of the network service/product. Team members may work to rollout new functionality and upgrades and provide 24x7 support for the ongoing operations.

Within this team, the Specialist is a technical team member responsible for implementing changes to the network, incident troubleshooting and resolution, conducting routine maintenance, updating our management tools, and maintaining documented knowledge (e.g., SOP’s, guidelines).

The Specialist also communicates with internal customer contacts, 3rd party vendors, and management to drive incident/problem resolution, gather requirements, and coordinate changes.

Example efforts/assignments are:

  • Implementation, and operation of
    • LAN and WiFi network upgrade
    • SD-WAN routing or QoS features
    • New connectivity between on-premise and cloud environments
    • A new remote site office network
    • New RADIUS or ACS authentication servers
    • A new VPN connection with a business partner
    • Network connectivity for IoT devices
    • Improved monitoring or automation capabilities
  • Incident Resolution
    • WAN Link Failure
    • LAN Switch Failure / Replacement
    • WiFi Unable to Connect
  • Maintaining
    • Current OS/code levels on devices
    • Documentation (diagrams, SOPs, config guidelines)
    • Toolsets (e.g., monitoring, authentication)

This position supports the North America geographic region, and team members will participate in a 24x7 shift roster to provide coverage centered on North America core business hours of 7:00am to 7:00pm CST.

Qualifications

The Specialist should have proven hands-on experience in one or more technical sub-domains (e.g., WiFi, LAN, SD-WAN), experience across other areas of network technology, and familiarity with other infrastructure technologies (e.g., server OS, DHCP, Active Directory).

The Specialist also needs strong written and verbal (speaking) communication skills.

Sample Experience:

  • 4+ years deep experience with one or more Cisco WiFi, LAN, or WAN technologies
  • 1+ years’ experience with all of Cisco WiFi, LAN, and SD-WAN technologies
  • Familiarity with Active Directory, DHCP, and various client and server OS’s
  • 1+ years with network load balancers, VPN’s, and cloud networking
  • 1+ years’ experience with multiple network tools and/or authentication servers
  • Prior experience in either a network operations team
  • Experience solving problems using packet capture analysis
  • Experience with supporting manufacturing plant floor operations
