Role Description

 

The Sr. Engineer will be accountable for optimizing existing products to achieve Relay Engineering cost savings target as well as reducing the manufacturing cost of identified Relays, Contactor thru VAVE methodology. VAVE engineer is responsible for identifying VAVE opportunities by understanding functional requirement of Relay product and working closely with Product Management, Operations and Sourcing team. Engineer will also support for ME activities by developing the required fixture to build the samples as well to reduce the cycle time of the assembly process. Engineer will initiate & implement continuous improvement programs to improve quality & cost while meeting customer requirement.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Analyze and Evaluate Relay, contactors Design, components, supply chain & Manufacturing process to identify VAVE Opportunities.
  • Identify VAVE opportunities in Relays & Contactors thru benchmarking, teardown, competitor analysis, standardization and study of relevant standards.
  • Develop, Execute & report on plan to maximize VAVE Opportunities.
  • Responsible to execute & drive VAVE projects starting from Idea generation to Implementation by co-ordination with cross functional teams ( external suppliers, reliability lab, manufacturing, quality Sourcing teams)
  • Co-ordinate with Global & local stake holders for project execution thru design, testing & implementation phase.
  • Develop test plan in accordance with MIL/Aerospace standards in co-ordination with customers, engineering and test lab team.
  • Build active & VAVE project funnel for all different product line products.
  • Closely work with Teardown & Should cost engineers to generate multiple idea thru events like benchmarking, tear down, competition analysis and study of applicable standards.
  • Redesign of existing component or design new component meeting product specification requirement, cost target & market related technology.
  • Drive multiple VAVE projects in a timely manner to support business goal target.
  • Provide Technical support, root cause failure analysis and problem solving assistance on manufacturing or quality issues related to VAVE projects.

 

Skill Set and Profile:

 

  • 6-8 years of experience in Product design of Relays, Circuit Breakers & other electromechanical Products.
  • Strong Electrical & Mechanical Design consideration for Electro Mechanical product Developments.
  • Proven experience in understanding Top level functional requirement of a product and designing the components/subsystems to meet Product Performance criteria.  
  • Experience using engineering/process tools such as Tolerance stack up analysis, DFMEA.,8D etc
  • Knowledge on VAVE methodology & project life cycle.
  • Experience in ME and fixture design will be added advantage
  • Knowledge in Creo software, Autocad, PDM windchill & PLM software.
  • Strong Knowledge of manufacturing processes like Molding, Stamping, Plating and other Metal Forming processes.
  • Hands on experience to develop test plan in accordance with Industry standard.
  • Capable of Handling Multiple Projects simultaneously.
  • Good Conceptual, problem solving and Analytical Skills.
  • Should be Self-Motivated, Adaptive, Passionate about results and a Good Team Player.
  • Strong Interpersonal & stake holder management skill.
  • Strong Technical Aptitude with Willingness to explore & learn new Technologies.
  • Demonstrated Experience of working in a fast paced and changing environment with the ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of six sigma tools will be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge in structural/Thermal analysis will be added advantage.
  • Knowledge of Global Certifications and Regulatory Standards (UL, IEC, MIL etc) will be an added advantage.
  • Willingness to Travel as required and at short notice.

 

Qualification & Experience:

 

  • B.E./B.Tech. in Mechanical, Electrical, Production, Industrial Engineering with good Analytical and Problem solving Skills.
  • 6-8 years of experience in Relay or Circuit Breaker Product Design Industries.
