As a part of Vestas Power Solutions, the Load & Control (LaC) department is one of the key areas in shaping the products of the future. In close corporation with our internal product owner, we balance the trade-offs between power production and loading of our turbines, essentially leading to the most innovative new products introduced to the market.
Within Load & Control the LaC 2/4 MW Products department is a solid, diverse, and global team with colleagues split across three locations: Chennai (India), Porto (Portugal) and Aarhus (Denmark). We are all together responsible for the 2/4MW product portfolio within Load and Control.
Responsibilities
As a Control Engineer in LaC 2/4MW Products you will be driving the technical aspects of Loads and Control development for a specific product from feasibility to full validation and certification
Ensure that the quality of work done by the team fulfills the high standards of Vestas and Loads and Control
Frontend scoping and execution of initiatives to improve our existing methods and processes
Frontend scoping and execution of new turbine variants from a loads and control perspective
Qualifications
PhD / Master's / Bachelor's in Mechatronics / Instrumentation & Controls / Similar specialization
In close collaboration with our internal stakeholders, balance the trade-offs between power production and loading
Define requirements for control strategies for new wind turbines
Development and validation of wind turbine aeroelastic models
Propel test and integration of innovative technologies onto new products
Calculate design loads, power performance and noise levels, for internal and external stakeholders
Propel the certification process of wind turbines, including performing the design loads verification test campaign on prototype wind turbines
Competencies
Experience in within Wind industry is good to have
Good competences within control of mechanical systems
Experience in dynamic simulation of mechanical systems
Programming experience for example in Matlab
Experience in handling projects following milestones and meeting deadlines, and maybe you are certified in project management
Experience or knowledge of aero elastic tools as Flex5, Bladed or HAWC2
Proven history in running wind turbine product development from a load and control perspective
knowledge of innovative simulation of mechanical systems
Experience in version control systems, e.g. GIT and agile planning tools, e.g. Jira
