Job description:

Purpose of the Role

 

This is a challenging opportunity for database tester to work in the Client Reporting Technology Team. The analyst shall be responsible for end to end testing on the data environment which includes testing data virtualisation layer. The analyst would be responsible to maintain the test repositories for manual and automation. The analyst’s responsibilities would include formulating test plans, digesting manual functional test case and selecting appropriate cases for automation, creating the automation test scripts, executing the tests and enhancing automation coverage. The analyst would be expected to interact with a wide variety of roles, including development managers, architects, delivery leads, business analysts, test managers, manual functional testers, so clear communication skills are very important. Experience and understanding of investment banking domain and agile delivery methodology, would be an added advantage for this role.

 

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Responsible for the test preparation and test execution on the project, including manual, database and automation and other non-functional testing.
  • Developing the test plans including the detailed test cases and ensuring maximum test coverage.
  • Planning and execution of tests in an efficient and organised way.
  • Accurately reporting test preparation and execution progress.
  • Ensuring that testing standards, process, procedure and methodology are adhered to.
  • Maintain a current working knowledge of the key business systems and future developments.
  • Ability to analyse defects and spot bug trends.
  • Ability to accurately log defects, escalate issues and risks and provide accurate management reporting.
  • Able to demonstrate consistent and good judgement of assessing severity of issues.
  • Delivering tasks to an agreed schedule and quality.
  • Promoting the principles and ideals of automation testing and transferring skills to other QA staff as appropriate.
  • Work closely with the Business Analysts to understand the requirements and apply the same while devising solutions.
  • Work hand-in-hand with the development team, architects and leads.

 

 

 

Experience and Qualifications Required

 

Necessary Skills are:

  • B.E./B.Tech. Or M.C.A. in Computer Science from a reputed University.
  • 3-5 years of hands on experience in testing databases, ETL load processes and SQL stored procedures.
  • Strong SQL, Relational Databases (Oracle), PL/SQL skills. Designing simple to complex SQL queries, preferably for data reconciliation.
  • Working knowledge on UNIX. Understanding of autosys or Control-M.
  • Experience in test scripting, execution and scheduling.
  • Understanding of automation test principles.
  • Experience in working with automation tools for database and data warehouse testing and exposure to any ETL tool (preferably Informatica).
  • Experience of working with multi-cultural and geographically disparate teams.
  • Knowledge of Agile software development life-cycle methodologies
  • Thorough understanding of test principles such as unit, smoke, functional (black box/white box), user acceptance and usability testing.
  • Candidate must be familiar software testing techniques, test methodologies, test automation tools and frameworks.
  • Experience and working knowledge of tools such as Quality Centre and Jira.
  • Experience of working in tight deadlines in a mature ‘time-boxed’ testing environment.

 

 Preferable Skills are:

  • Familiarity with the Mutual Funds and Investment Management industry.
  • Understanding of ETL/DWH Test Automation principles.
