About the Role
As part of AVEVA’s global Research & Development group, the Engineering & Schematics team implement and deliver AVEVA’s market leading engineering design products, with a focus on holistic data-centric 1D and 2D engineering design incorporating multiple disciplines. We are looking for a Test Architect who is influential, pragmatic, and motivated to deliver effective, targeted and efficient quality assurance practices, to help us deliver high quality industrial software for our customers.
As the Test Architect you will work with colleagues from across the whole of the Engineering & Schematics team, including testers, developers, scrum masters, product owners and management, in order to ideate and detail potential improvements to quality assurance practice; to agree and maintain a backlog of these improvements; and to lead the implementation and change management required to make these improvements effective and sustainable.
In this role you will:
• Understand current Test Plans and Quality Assurance Processes and be able to explain them to other team members
• Identify weaknesses and strengths in the current Plans and Processes;
• Carry out detailed reviews of workflows, both process and domain workflows by working with the Product Owners in the team;
• Recommend a backlog of improvements to be implemented;
• Lead the transformation of the Test Plans and Quality Assurance Processes, based on agreed changes;
• Coach colleagues on both adopting and continuing to be successful in executing quality assurance processes according to best practice;
• Be expected to undertake occasional travel, perhaps internationally, according to the current project and customer needs;
• Report to the Head of Product for R&D E&S;
• There are no direct reports for this role.
Qualifications:
• You can demonstrate a background of software quality assurance knowledge and best practice that shows an understanding of multiple different test approaches that you have been involved in executing which have been effective in achieving good quality software releases.
• You have an education and work experience profile that includes at 10-14 years experience of executing quality assurance practices in complex software in environments where software is delivered using Agile methodologies.
• You can demonstrate good knowledge of software life cycles and software process management and improvement techniques and you have experience in rolling out quality assurance process improvements and practices.
• You have a good understand of and experience in test automation, test management and a demonstrable understanding of test script development, preferably using C# but knowledge of C# specifically is not essential to the role.
• You are comfortable communicating with and presenting your ideas to any level within the company as well as to some of our customers.
Preferred Qualifications:
• It is beneficial if you have technical knowledge of Document and Configuration Management Systems and familiar with modern, iterative software design processes like the Scrum or SAFe
• It is beneficial if you have previous experience in an allied engineering industrial sector - Process Plant, Power, Marine, Oil & Gas, Food & Bev, or similar.
