Job description:

Key Responsibilities

1. Identifying and documenting Business Requirements
2. Understanding existing systems functions and liaison with Business teams
3. Prepare or assist in preparation of Business Requirements documents
4. Translating Business Requirements to System Requirements
5. Work closely with business analysts/SME in strategic business programmes to define data requirements
6. Analyse existing systems and understand the business process and data required to support the same
7. Build solution documents to support data acquisition, management and consumption for end consumers
8. Liaise with internal system owners and/or 3rd party data providers to develop effective strategy for acquiring data
9. Prepare test plans and participating in system testing activities as per QA processes
10. Support the System team during implementation- e.g. data loading & cutover/migration analysis
11. Support business in preparation of user test procedures and user acceptance testing
12. Provide pre-implementation and post-implementation support to the systems and business teams
13. Perform current state analysis in legacy system with respect to usage of data subject areas. E.g. Reference data, Market data, Research data, Positions/Holdings data etc.
14. Serve as mentor/coach to junior BAs on assigned program or within broader Solution Delivery organization.

Experience and Qualifications Required

1. Minimum 5 years of IT experience in Investment Management/Investment Banking domain
2. At least 4 years of proven experience as a Business Analyst
3. B. Tech / B.E. or MBA (Finance) preferred.  
4. Exposure to structured software development methodology (preferably Agile or Iterative development)
5. A good understanding of the overall investment process and data needs of investment firms.
6. Must have the ability to visualise data, understand data lineage and identify patterns within and across subject areas
7. Basic knowledge of technology, third party products and their usage within investment management domain
8. Must possess working knowledge of database technologies to query standard databases like Oracle 
9. Must be an expert in using MS Office products like Visio and Excel

 

Nice to have skills include

1. Experience of working in applications for Fund Accounting / Custody & Settlement / Client Reporting area
2. Experience of working with 3rd party market data providers like Bloomberg, Reuters etc.
3. Experience of working with BI / reporting tools like OBI, QlikView or Tableau
4. Experience of working in data analytics projects.
