Job Title: MGR II R&D/PRODUCT DVL ENGINEERING

Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Typical fields of expertise include: materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.

BU / FUNCTION DESCRIPTION 

INDUSTRIAL SEGMENT

 ROLE OBJECTIVE 

 We are looking for a highly motivated and engaged expert  own and drive advance labs focused on teardown and VA/VE.  You are required to manage team and work with various global leaders to deliver ROI on lab. The role is very transversal, with contacts and stakeholders, CTO’s, Segment GM’s across regions and different functions between Procurement, Industrialization and R&D (for technical expertise).  

 RESPONSIBILITIES
•    Responsible for guiding team members for conducting product Tear Down engineering/ VAVE analysis / Should cost analysis using industry standard tools like aPriori.
•    Conduct spend analysis and diagnose costing needs and potentials with category managers and build up costing plan according to category strategy and supply base complexities
•    Setup tools and process for successful advanced lab operations.
•    Strong background in lab operations along with people management.
•    Support capability building initiative to buyers through training, workshop, joint work, etc. Identify and share best practices on analytics and share them with procurement teams.


EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE

•    B.E / B. Tech in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics Engineering
•    Six sigma Green belt certification will be added advantage
•    Experience in connectors & terminals is preferred.
•    Knowledge about ISO 9001/14001 systems
•    Knowledge about Improvement, 5S, Kaizen & Business Excellence.

CRITICAL EXPERIENCE

•    15+ teardown , should costing experience
•    Experience in leading team consisting of should costing mechanical/ electrical and lab associates
•    High technical skills to teardown product for cost analysis
•    Managing internal & External customers 
•    Well organized and multi-tasking
•    Strong systematic way of problem-solving skills.
•    Experience working in the field of material science/engineering – metals and polymer. 
•    Thorough understanding of manufacturing basics and cost structure, especially for fabricated component process, such as plastic injection, stamping, sheet metal, machining, casting….
