Job Description: Project Manager (FMCG - Food Factory)
Job Title: Project Manager
Department: Project Management
Reports To: Head of projects: Biscuits and Cakes
Job Summary: As a Project Manager in an FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) food factory, you will be
responsible for leading and managing projects related to the manufacturing and production of food products.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure successful project
execution, adherence to quality standards, and timely delivery. This role requires expertise in project
management, food production processes, and strong leadership skills to drive operational efficiency by choosing
advanced technologies available worldwide.
Design, planning, execution of projects, induction of new line, technology or category-wide initiative in the
category. This will involve managing several different technical projects during the year with intensive travel to
manufacturing locations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Planning and Initiation:
• Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in line with business requirements.
• Conduct feasibility studies and evaluate resource requirements.
• Develop project plans, including timelines, milestones, and budgets.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure alignment on project goals and objectives.
• Conduct risk assessments and develop contingency plans.
2. Project Execution and Control:
• Lead cross-functional project teams and manage project activities.
• Monitor project progress, track key milestones, and ensure adherence to timelines.
• Coordinate with internal departments (e.g., production, quality control, procurement) to ensure
smooth execution.
• Implement project management best practices and methodologies.
• Manage project budgets, resources, and procurement activities.
• Conduct regular project status meetings and provide progress reports to stakeholders.
3. Quality Assurance and Compliance:
• Ensure compliance with food safety standards, regulations, and industry best practices.
• Collaborate with the quality control team to implement quality assurance processes.
• Conduct inspections and audits to ensure adherence to quality standards.
• Monitor and analyse production data to identify areas for improvement.
4. Supplier and Stakeholder Management:
• Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and negotiate favorable terms.
• Coordinate with stakeholders (e.g., marketing, sales) to ensure effective communication and
alignment on project requirements.
• Address any issues or concerns raised by stakeholders and resolve conflicts.
5. Continuous Improvement:
• Identify process inefficiencies and bottlenecks, and propose and implement improvement
initiatives.
• Monitor and evaluate project outcomes, analyse performance metrics, and identify areas for
optimization.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the project team and the organization.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Project Manager in an FMCG food manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of food production processes, food safety regulations, and quality control systems.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
• Proficiency in project management software and tools.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Technical Knowledge required:
• Knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, statutes relating to factories
• Knowledge of utilities such as Compressor, Pumps, Boilers, Blowers, ETP etc.
• Complete familiarity with manufacturing concepts like Lean Manufacturing, Knowledge in PERT,
CPM, Industrial Engineering concepts, AutoCAD
Experience required:
• 3-5 years of project management in green field and brown field projects.
• Complete design, planning and execution of food factory/lines (Biscuits plants preferred).
• Minimum 1 Turn key green field projects should have been delivered
Technical & Behavioral Skills Required
• Good project planning skills, Must have ability to develop macro and micro project schedule.
• Should be able to break project activities into effective and achievable timelines.
• Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
• Project execution skills.
